At the Duluth Grill, they support our troops. On Monday, November 11 (the day Veteran’s Day is observed this year), they’re offering a free menu item. Any current or former member of any of the Armed Services—Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard (including Reserve and National Guard) is eligible for a free menu item. All you need is proof of service in the military. (This could be your military card or military papers.)
Tom Hanson, Duluth Grill and Don Doane, catering manager sat down recently to discuss the veterans in our lives, as we all know several. While they are very thankful for all veterans, there’s a special place in our hearts for those who served in Vietnam. Tom and Don both came of age close to that generation and both said it made a big impact on them.
“I sure remember people—kids—going to Vietnam and I remember the intensity,” Tom said.
“My dad was a minister then,” Tom said “I was probably ten and on the bulletin board they had pictures of vets who had died. It was eerie.”
Our Veteran’s Day menu items is our way of giving back. Other restaurants are also offering free meals or menu items. I think we speak for all the restaurants when we say, ” It’s really a small gesture in light of the sacrifices veterans make.”
“What we do every day is really insignificant,” Tom says. “I think the military cause needs to be kept alive.
