Prayer

Praying give Hope and Comfort to those who need it. Actually 83% of Americans believe God is the answer to their prayers. Whether you are any particular religion it does not matter. People feel prayer gives Hope. There are so many suffering all over. Sometimes it is just a state of mind that turns ones fears toward  Hope, makes you feel that there is a better tomorrow, and gives you some solace in a dysfunctional world.

Mediation is always good. It gives you a foundation, a structure, and helps you to cope with life’s daily difficulties. There are many books you can read on this topic. One such book is called The Healing Power of Faith by Dr. Koenig. He is the director of the Center for Spirituality, Theology and Health at Duke University. You could probably google him or even the book. That is if you are interested or head up to the bookstore to check it out.

There are prayer sites you can go on,  prayer groups you can participate in, and there is always church. I am inspired when I go to church. I love prayer in song. The Anchor Church is wonderful in that respect. I am sure there are many other churches. Since I have been many religions (a Heinz 57 gal) in my life I know that churches vary in what they have to offer.

There is a magazine called American Sociological Review that once had an article that stated that people who pray have faith and follow a spiritual path that gives them a higher levels of happiness. Who doesn’t want to be happy? I know it can be hard when life keeps throwing stones at you.

You don’t want to be under stress, you don’t want your hormones to get off balance, you don’t get ill, and of course, you don’t want your immune system to crash. Faith, Prayer, Hope do you help in the overall scheme of your health. There has been research on the effects of meditation at the University of Madison.

Buffering stress is so important. 83% of Americans believe God answers their prayers. 92% believe in God. Doesn’t that say something? I know  why do bad things happen to good people? Who knows why? Is it the luck of the draw, bad cards, or something you did? I don’t think it is that. This almighty God can’t answer every prayer, right? There are still people suffering. The Catholic Church believes you need to do the corporal works of mercy, feed the hungry, give drink t0 the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit the sick, visit the imprisoned, and bury the dead. It is part of their practice of merciful love, charitable acts for the common good and basic welfare of human kind. I saw something on FACEBOOK and it was a post about the trickle down effect. Merciful is not the trickle down effect.
