USDA, Deny the Petition to Deregulate GE, Corn

Why should the USDA deny the petition for the Down AgroSciences to deregulate corn? It is because this resistant corn has more than its fair share of herbicides in it. The USDA has provided no analysis of the harm to human health.

2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid or 2,4-D is a herbicide that has one of the two active ingredients in Agent Orange. We all know the affect and the bureaucracy on trying to find out about Agent Orange with our Vietnam soldiers. There has been a lot of studies in this country about non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. How many people do you talk to and meet each  year with this disease? I know I run into people all the time. In my own mind, I think, “Who Else?”

This type of lymphoma has doubled in rate since the 1970′s. There has been a lot of studies on the affect it has played in birth defects, neurological damage, reproductive problems, hormonal problems, including the effect on dopamine and serotonin.

In Minnesota, the rates of birth defects are higher because of the use of 2,4-D conceived offspring.

In California it is a toxic contaminate as in other states.

The USDA should deny Dow’s petition to deregulate 2, 4-D resistant corn.

It seems like our country lets chemicals in our community. We need more regulation of these chemicals.

Did you see ABC the other night with Diane Sawyer? All  the chemicals in make up, lipstick, and nail polish and the government has little regulation on them compared to the thousands of regulations in foreign countries.

Cancer is big business in this county. First lets have more chemicals tested. There is a reason, a cause, and an effect.
