I had not heard about Camp Amnicon until today. It is an amazing wilderness canoe and back pack program, family camp, year around group and individual retreats with a Christ Centered Community. Check out their website at: www.amnicon.org. They are in need of volunteers.

This is an outdoor reach ministry that strives to connect the mission of church and the care of God’s creation through high adventure outdoor program experiences and retreats.

Location: 8450 East Camp Amnicon Road, South Range, Wisconsin 54874, amnicon@usa.net or 1.715.364.2602. This truly is changing lives through the community and faith in the great outdoors.  The site is located on the south shore of Lake Superior, 15 miles East of Duluth-Superior.

The majority of their non-profit funding comes from donors that support camper scholarships. This is a life changing experience for at risk students who are challenged by inner city, impoverished neighborhoods, fosters homes, group homes, immigrant communities, reservation, and the like.

They do things like whitewater canoeing on the Brule and Cloquet, flatwater canoeing in Sylvania Wilderness, canoeing in the Apostle Islands, sailing in the Aspostle Islands, and backpacking in the Superior Hiking trail.
