Life is Good; I Found My Drunken Meatballs and Roast Recipes

Posted by peggysue on January 14, 2011 in Food |

I accidently deleted my drunken meatball receipe from the computer by cutting and pasting. I searched and searched. Life is good; I found the recipe, and I am going to share it with you.  The meatball recipe is a version of Dottie Becker’s but I changed it around. You probably dont’t remember her from TV; that was long ago. The Drunken Pot Roast recipe I have made for years and years. Well, I am no that old.

Drunken Meatballs-That’s a Meatball!

1/3 c. of brown sugar

1/3 c. of ketchup

1/2 of Bourbon or Brandy

1 1/2 dozen frozen meatballs.

Combine the first three ingredients and simmer it over the stove for 5 minutes until it is well blended. Add the meatballs and simmer, covered for about 45 minutes.  Enjoy the meatballs!

My Drunken Pot Roast Receipe-I Sure Love This Roast!

4 pound pot roast

3 cloves of garlic, minced

4 T. of butter or olive oil

salt

flour

1 sliced yellow onion or red

12 whole peppercorns

12 whole allspice

2 bay leaves, fresh is best

1 T. of horseradish

1 cup of sweet red wine, maybe a little more

1/2 c. of water

Sliced potatoes, celery, carrots , onions as desired

Rub the roast with salt, flour on both sides and brown in the butter (or olive oil) in a fry pan.  Layer the roast in the crock pot with all the rest of the ingredients. Add everyting else and cook for el numero hours. When it falls apart from the wine and over cooking, you’ll know it is done. Maybe 6 hours.
